Use this first-session path to connect your catalog, research, execution and review. The guide explains where to work; it does not place trades or make decisions for you.
01
1. Set up your account and preferences
Where in SeekCost
Create an account first, then use Personal settings for your display name, currency and theme.
Enter or verify
Choose a display currency you will recognize in portfolio summaries; confirm your account details before you start recording investments.
Use Investments → Investment catalog to add an investment, or Investments → IBKR import to review an activity statement.
Enter or verify
For a manual entry, enter its name, category and the quantity, price or value you can support. For an import, preview the rows and duplicates before confirming.
4. Capture thesis, evidence and invalidation anchors
Where in SeekCost
Open a candidate’s quick decision panel or full research page, then use Decision records when you need a longer pre-trade record.
Enter or verify
Write the core thesis, links or source notes that support it, observable conditions that would invalidate it, and the price or review anchors that would make you look again.
5. Read K-line, quantitative and intraday evidence
Where in SeekCost
Open a candidate’s full research page for its K-line and technical references; use Decisions → Quant monitoring for transparent quantitative observations.
Enter or verify
Compare completed-session K-line context with your anchors. Treat intraday observations as provisional, and keep quantitative signals as evidence for review rather than a prediction or recommendation.
Use a candidate’s decision fields to set intent and the Investments → Transactions page to record an actual buy, sell or T-trade.
Enter or verify
Before acting, verify the instrument, direction, price, quantity, fees and the decision you are comparing against. Record what actually happened after the execution.
Use Workbench for items needing attention and the Decisions overview to open a decision or trade review.
Enter or verify
Compare the outcome and execution with the original thesis, invalidation conditions and plan. Update the candidate or decision record with the next concrete review.
Your account keeps its own records, but data can be incomplete. Use the product to organize a review, not as a source of certainty or advice.
Private by design
SeekCost is designed to keep your records scoped to your account. It is built to organize your own investment information rather than publish or sell it.
Data is context, not certainty
Use market data and quantitative observations to frame a review, not to imply certainty about an outcome.
Market data may be delayed or unavailable.
Intraday observations are provisional and may change.
Quantitative signals are evidence for your review, not investment advice.
SeekCost does not provide investment advice or trade recommendations.
